AASECT Certified Sex Therapist

Dr. Kreszentia 'Kres' Snyder has experience working with a diverse range of clients. She is a Queer Professional Kinkster who recognizes that all people are relational, social creatures who constantly aspire to improve themselves. She works with individuals and couples, focusing on sex therapy, alternative lifestyles, kink, and BDSM. She approaches the development of healthy relationship patterns and behaviors holistically.

She is the founder of Minds Empowered Counseling in Chicago, Illinois, and has over 16 years of experience working with LGBTQIA issues, communication difficulties, intimacy issues, betrayal and abandonment, and marital and couple issues. This has enabled her to supervise therapists from all walks of life, ensuring that BIPOC have access to high-quality services. She approaches therapy in a warm, honest, and open manner, assisting clients in feeling optimistic about their situation.

Kres believes that the quality of our relationships and sex life is directly related to our mental health. Driven by her desire to break down stigmas surrounding mental health and sexuality, Kres created a platform on social media and among peers that not only connects people seeking therapy for sexual issues, but also provides a safe, inclusive space for people to gain access to education about sensitive topics that people face on a daily basis.

As an experienced kink-aware therapist, she approaches the issues you identify with an open mind. Clients with all sexual and erotic preferences, practices, and identities are welcome. Her kink work acknowledges and respects the use of unconventional sexual practices, concepts, or fantasies, as well as their interplay in people's lives and minds. Integrating the nuances of kink, fetishes, and power exchange into a loving, intimate relationship, on the other hand, can be difficult for some couples. Kres is able to fully support those struggling with these and other sexual issues thanks to a combination of clinical training, Gottman principles, and sex therapy certification training at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Snyder earned her master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Argosy University. She previously worked as a long-term Clinical Director in a residential Group Home, as well as in Foster Care and with Correctional Populations. Her dissertation investigated the willingness to change in police officers who abused alcohol. She has spent the last ten years in private practice cultivating a sex therapy and kink awareness practice. She enjoys dancing, swimming, and spending time with her family, which includes her two daughters and son, in her spare time.
